CINEMATOGRAPHER | CREATIVE

I’m a Singapore based cinematographer & creative. My multi - disciplinary work experience revolves around storytelling – understanding people, adversity, social issues, life & conflict around Asia. I come from a strong directing background but was always in love with the camera.

My two decades of experience in the industry has taken me all over the region – from cinematography for narrative dramas & passion project films to producing & directing documentaries. I have a varied experience shooting stories from all over the world – period crime thrillers, wildlife in Africa, super typhoons in Taiwan, tracking orangutans in Borneo, filming North Korean defectors to being embedded with Marines in South Philippines. I’ve also travelled across Asia trying to understand a part of my own Malay identity in a long award winning documentary series. I love narratives and visuals that are layered, conflicted and personal.

Recently my work was nominated for Best Cinematography in the Asian Television Awards, official selections in Athens Digital Arts Festival, Winner for best MV in Tokyo Film Awards, Silver Awards in NY Film & TV Fest & my Borderlands series episode on the conflicted maritime border of Tawi – Tawi  will be part of the official selection in the Jeju Biennale 2024 in South Korea.

I’m also a full member of the Singapore Society of Cinematographers (SGSC), an Expert Level 1 Krav Maga instructor & I love to be outdoors with family & friends.
